Our Curiosity Campers enjoyed a fun afternoon cooling off at 5 Star Swim in Princeton!
Session 2: Grades 3-5
It has been exciting to see how quickly the children have learned some of the basics of computer coding. We have explored some of the features of Scratch, and we have shared some of our designs with our partner school in Rwanda. We have also made videos about ourselves sharing about our lives in the U.S. We have enjoyed watching the videos that our Rwandan partners have made for us, and we are learning a bit about their culture and what their daily lives are like. We spent a bit of time learning about renewable resources and how we use them here and in Rwanda. This week we will work on designing a video game that involves racing solar powered cars. Then we will share our games with the students in Rwanda, and hopefully we can learn from their designs as well. Session 2: Grades 1-2
We’ve been hard at work in Storybook Engineering camp. Along with our partner school in Rwanda, we’ve been reading, designing, and building. We designed and built bridges to go along with The Rainbow Bridge by Audrey Wood, castles to go along with a Lithuanian legend called Jurate and Kastytis, and zip line gondolas for the book The Race of Toad and Deer by Pat Mora and Domi. This week we are learning about the child engineer from Malawi named William Kamkwamba. We started designing and building windmills. While the children are finding designing windmills to be quite challenging, they are excited and up to the challenge. We hope to see you all at our showcase on Friday where the children will be able to display their designs. Our Art and Nature Campers had their cooking special today. We made Animal Toast! The campers choose what animals they wanted to make and decorated their cream cheese and toast with fruit! It was really yummy!
Our littlest campers enjoyed exploring the PJS grounds. They collected various items and used them for their Nature Looms. Their looms turned out beautiful!
ART and NATURE Campers: We were all excited to have waterplay today! We had a wonderful time playing in the pools, running through the sprinkler, and washing all the trucks! Enjoy a few photos of our waterplay fun below.
