Session 2: Grades 1-2
We’ve been hard at work in Storybook Engineering camp. Along with our partner school in Rwanda, we’ve been reading, designing, and building. We designed and built bridges to go along with The Rainbow Bridge by Audrey Wood, castles to go along with a Lithuanian legend called Jurate and Kastytis, and zip line gondolas for the book The Race of Toad and Deer by Pat Mora and Domi. This week we are learning about the child engineer from Malawi named William Kamkwamba. We started designing and building windmills. While the children are finding designing windmills to be quite challenging, they are excited and up to the challenge. We hope to see you all at our showcase on Friday where the children will be able to display their designs.
