Camp Descriptions Entering Grades 1-5
Please check the class schedule tab under virtual classes for information on which sessions the following classes are being offered. Each class will be 30 minutes everyday for the 10 day session for Entering Grades 1 and 2. For Grades Entering 3-5, each class will be 45 minutes everyday for the 10 day session.
Cost: $200 per Class
Ballet-Come and dance with us in our beginner Ballet class! Each class will include a warm-up, the ability to learn beginner ballet technique, and the chance to learn a ballet routine that will be performed for family and friends at the end of the session. Ballet helps develop one's coordination, balance, flexibility, strength, and memorization skills, all while having fun!
Poetry Club- Come join the journey and learn about some amazing poets and read their poems. We will be also writing our own poetry too! Everyone will leave the session with a poetry anthology.
Yoga and Living a Healthy Life- Practicing healthy habits is important for kids of all ages. In this class, we will work on flexibility, coordination, and body awareness as we practice animal poses, breathing, and mindfulness. Your child will even have a chance to create his/her own yoga sequence! We will also read stories about healthy living and share kid-friendly cooking recipes.
Fun with Fonts-This visionary class is a way for kids to be creative with their writing or artwork! Whether it's a sign for your room, a birthday card or a title for your books, you will explore different styles of making your fonts! We'll cover types of fonts, writing in script and bubble lettering!

Karate-We understand that kids learn at different rates and our classes are designed to meet your child at their level. In this class participants will be introduced to the formal martial arts curriculum.
Cheerleading- Are you Ready...Let’s go! Join us as we learn the basics of cheerleading. Kids will learn cheers, chants, dances, and jumps.
Music-Participants will explore music and dancing styles from around the world. They will also be playing musical games together. A good time will be had by all!
Fun and Games- Join us for good old fun and games! We will be participating in scavenger hunts, online bingo, virtual connect four, an enjoyable game of charades or hangman. We've also included dance parties, playing tunes from the classics to modern day! All we need is you!

African Drumming-Students will learn multiple rhythms and drumming techniques from a Drumming Master! Materials will be given to participants in need.
Circus Sampler- Come join the world of circus! In this class participants will be introduced to various circus arts such as hula hooping, scarf juggling and feather balance! Kids will have the opportunity to learn the basics of each of these long-standing circus acts and will learn how to sequence skills into their very own one-kid circus act! Circus is a great way for kids of all ages to develop focus, persistence, and creative expression! Materials will be given to participants in need.
S.T.E.A.M.(Short Challenges)-Learn to apply the Engineering Design Process by working on a series of STEM challenges and quick builds. We will learn how engineers design, build, test, and redesign, rebuild, and retest to solve problems or complete challenges. These will typically be 2-day challenges utilizing typical household supplies. On day one we will introduce the problem and brainstorm possible solutions and on day two we will build, test, and share our creations.
S.T.E.A.M.(Long Term Project)- Experience each step of the Engineering Design Process from identifying a problem or process to modifying and sharing final solutions in this two week project. Students will conduct research, brainstorm and design solutions, build prototypes, develop their own tests, and make plans for modifications to further the success of their prototype. Students will be coached through this long term process by participating in one on one conferences and collaborative discussions with peers.
Math-Engage in problem-solving tasks that promote flexibility, creative thinking, and resilience. Students will learn to use logic and reasoning skills to solve complex problems and discuss the reasonableness of their answers with peers. We will also be developing number sense through estimation and learn how to utilize tools to increase accuracy.
Scrapbooking- Do you have a special life event you want to share in an artistic way? Are you looking for a fun way to organize your photos and art? Please join our digital class, where we will learn to tell our stories and life experiences through the art of scrapbooking!
Writing- Participants will grow their writing skills using a variety of writing styles, including narrative, memoir, and nonfiction writing. They will engage in the writing process through guided writing prompts, as well as the revising and editing process. They will read examples of writing styles to use as mentor text to understand the writing process and improve their writing skills.

Graphic Novel Book Club-A fan of graphic novels? Come explore this remarkable genre with fellow book club members. Be prepared to go on quests with amazing characters.
Book Club- Join a book club this summer and enjoy some rich and deep conversations with fellow club members. We will explore a variety of genres. Come join the fun!
Cartooning- Learn the art of cartooning! Using just a pencil and paper, students will create their own custom characters in a step-by-step manner using basic shapes and guidelines. Each class, students will be given model character sheets upon which to build their skills. Taught by industry professionals.
Stop Motion Animation-Learn the art of Stop Motion Animation! Create your own mini movie masterpiece right from home! An instructor will be there to guide students every step of the way, will provide feedback, and help edit student films. Taught by industry professionals.
Coding- SCRATCH by MIT is the perfect introduction to coding for young students. SCRATCH employs easy-to-use, colorful, drag-and-drop coding blocks to make customized animations and fun games including classics like pong and pacman!
Book Writing-Do you have a story you really want to tell? Maybe a fun event that has happened or something you're really looking forward to. Maybe it's just something you've imagined! Work with other students (and a published author!) to workshop your story and turn it into a book. All participants will receive a printed copy of their book!
Reading Club- Students will receive six- 20 minute sessions of one on one reading conferences with one of our PJS teachers. There will also be 4 days of group read alouds and book discussion. This is an opportunity you don’t want to miss!
