This session, the art and nature campers explored the Wonders of the Creatures of the Wind. Last week we read stories that featured bats and owls! We used fun art techniques (including cutting and color-blending), and surprising materials (like coffee filters) to create our own bats and owls. The preschool class learned so many interesting facts about these animals, including that they are nocturnal. The preschoolers did a special collaborative project to create a landscape for the bats and owls in our classroom. We took giant pieces of paper outside and blended together black, purple, and blue paint to create a nighttime sky that was inspired by the illustrations from the story Owl Sees Owl. This painting was hung up in the classroom the next day, and our preschoolers used gold tissue paper and glitter to add stars and a moon to our night sky. We can’t wait to hang up our finished art projects in our nighttime landscape!
This week we will be working on a day-time landscape and learning about even more animals!
