This morning our campers were eager to celebrate all things summer at PJS. Creative explorations, outdoor play and making new friends were all hallmarks of our first day together. Although some children were timid at first, the beautiful weather and our enticing playground brought out the best in our campers. Our youngest campers enjoyed a morning of painting with Mr. Perry. It was exciting to use real artist paint palettes and brushes to make the background for our collages. Obstacle courses were another highlight of our morning. We went through three rounds of tunnels, balancing and jumping before calling it quits. In the afternoon, we experimented by making chalk paint and, to the delight of our campers, used our hands as paintbrushes. It was messy creative fun for all!
Our Innovation campers spent a busy morning painting special self-portraits in keeping with our 'Innovation and You' theme. They designed the backgrounds today which are made of pizza pans. It will be great to watch how they turn into a unique version of our campers! Our Black Rocket teacher, Mr. James, joined us in the afternoon and helped us begin to create our live action movie. The kids became screenwriters as they voted on "mystery" for their movie genre. They divided into three groups to develop the plot line - the "spy kids," "mystery men" and "super girls." The title of their film will be "The Case of the Missing Teacher." I hope you will join us to see how their case in solved as we watch the final version of their movie on Friday afternoon at 3pm.
The fun is just beginning at PJS! I can't wait to see what the rest of the week has in store. In the meantime, enjoy these pictures from our first day of camp.
