I can't believe the last week of camp is already upon us! Time flies when you're having fun and that is something we've had a lot of this summer. We couldn't have asked for more beautiful weather to kick off our movement week.
Our Art campers began the week with some yoga movements. We took our shoes off and settled in on mats. It was fun to move like animals and see how long we could hold poses. Can you stand tall and strong like a tree, wiggle your dog tail or hop like a frog? Many of them have great balancing skills which will come in handy later in the week on the balance beams! We also had fun with our paint brushes in action. Campers chose a movement for their brush such as hopping, dancing, sliding and many more. The prints that it left on the page were both creative and beautiful. Great job campers! Today (Tuesday) we headed outside for some soccer practice. Campers raced between the goal posts, kicked balls to each other and into the net. It takes a lot of coordination to run and kick a ball but we got the hang of it after a while. We also used hula hoops on the field to practice jumping and throwing balls through the hoops. For those of us that stayed for nap time, there was lots of resting today! I think they were tired out after so much outdoor play. : )
From the fields to the black top, our Innovation campers have been busy with Mrs. Webster outside each morning. They are recording their statistics to share during our Friday showcase.
In the afternoons, campers are working with Black Rocket on their Claymation movies. In teams of three they first worked to create a story and finalize the plot. What great team building skills as they work and play together. They first began designing the backdrop using boxes and art supplies. Their backgrounds are each unique and creative. I can't wait to see the final result at Friday's 3pm presentation. I look forward to seeing you there!
