Today was a day for sharing our scientific work at summer camp! It began with our morning showcase where campers were able to explain and share the results of the many science experiments they have been conducting this past week.
Our Art campers displayed their colorful bubble paintings created by blowing soap and paint through straws. It made beautiful prints across the papers leaving colors and patterns. They also showed their exploration of salt, water and wax. By mixing these ingredients they were able to produce a beautiful group art painting. It was surprising to see how the salt affected the texture and the water affected the movement of the paint. Our sinking and floating experiment results were also posted. Campers were able to show their families how different objects responded when placed in water.
Our Innovation campers shared the results of many experiments including a sampling of their play-dough and oobleck. Campers were eager to show how their oobleck changed from a liquid to a solid throughout the showcase. Also displayed were their beautiful leaf collection books. After collecting leaves, campers experimented with leaf rubbings to journal their projects. In the afternoon, families gathered to see the robot presentations. I was impressed by the children's presentation skills and how unique each of their robots were. We also saw pictures of the hands-on Lego robot work they did throughout the week.
Scientists in nature, in the kitchen, in electronics and in art - what a great week of science fun we had at PJS! Thank you for joining us!
