During this hot week, Water Play Wednesday was a great time to cool off and have some fun outside. Joyful laughter could be heard throughout the field as children raced through the sprinkler or dunked in the pools.
Many children loved the water, but there were other choices for campers as well. The mud pit was a sensory delight as children concocted mud pies. Our garden chefs got to work putting all that mud into baking pans and cupcake tins for "cooking."
The snow cone maker was a popular station as children cooled down and relaxed on their towels after all that water.
Wednesday also included a Music class with Ms. Swartley, our PJS music teacher. The children sang, danced and played instruments to songs about the garden.
The Curiosity Campers worked with Mrs. Z. on Wednesday afternoon to plant our pollinator garden at PJS. They used printed pictures of each plant in full bloom while Mrs. Z. taught them how to consider the height of each plant for their design. They created a front, middle and back row for the naturescape. The children then drew a collaborative art piece of their garden. This garden will attract honeybees and butterflies who will help pollinate our gardens and keep our campus looking beautiful! We can wait to see their work bloom this summer!
